For the true nerd this triptic offers a deconstructed view of the data that went into the "world first" colour solar image presented in three separate tiles. The first panel on the left provides a high-resolution glimpse into the madness that accompanies a solar flare captured through the monster Hydrogen Alpha wavelength telescope. This view is more detailed than the other prints and shows more clearly the arcade of bright filaments that arch over the bright flare as it erupts next to the Earth-sized sunspot. The middle panel pulls back to reveal the sun's surface including granulation and the active network surrounding the sunspots. The final tile on the right combines all three datasets into a single, unique colour image. This print is for anyone who wants to understand the science or - according to Mrs Biscuit - anyone who thinks science can be art.
If you do not live in USA,UK or EU then postage is subsidised and there may be customs charges.
